Dan Sauvain

Associate Varsity Head Coach


Coach Dan Sauvain was varsity coach at Elk Grove for five seasons from 1992 through 1996 including the school's only two league championship seasons. Until three seasons ago, Coach Sauvain had the most coaching victories in school history with 85 against 49 losses. During the 1997-98 season, Coach Sauvain joined the varsity as an assistant coach.

Prior to Elk Grove, Coach Sauvain took James Logan High School (Union City) to the state final four in 1988. During his three seasons at Logan, he compiled a 99-22 record, won three league titles and a section title. His first coaching stint was at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland where his winning began, going 91-27 in five seasons, including two league titles and the 1985 section banner.

In 13 seasons, Coach Sauvain amassed 275 wins and only 98 losses. Ten of his 13 seasons resulted in twenty-plus wins. He brings a wealth of knowledge and intensity to practices and games. With a proven winning-tradition, the Lady Herd players are blessed with the instruction and techniques that he brings. The Lady Herd program welcomes him back to the sidelines this season and appreciates his time and commitment to the players.
